CHANGING TRENDS IN THE STUDY OF SHARIA IN INDONESIA: An Account on Relevant Bibliographies

The study of Sharia in a Muslim country, like Indonesia, has been experiencing significant change terms approaches, methods, and object study. This article deals with the continuities changes Islamic law Indonesia. Based on my bibliographical study, it emphasizes that Indonesia changed response to changing social political surroundings, which I categorize into three phases. First, during colonialism, relationship between Islam local customs become an important subject intense debate among scholars. Second, upturn occurred mid-1950s, as was no longer oriented examine debates practices. Instead, is seen set interpre­tative resources approach continued develop until 1970s. Third, along codification family law, given dynamics courtrooms, examining position women role judges, state policies both at provincial district levels.
